Posted 4 weeks ago in More

Choosing to go on a city break is a great idea, but choosing to go to Dublin as your city break destination is one of the best things that you could do this year for yourself. Dublin is one of those cities that is best discovered at your own pace, which means it’s always a good idea to check out how you can move around the city before you get there. Whether you’re there for the weekend or you’re going for a longer stay, you want to hit the ground running from the moment you arrive.

Putting your luggage into a Radical Storage location gives you a chance to drop your things off and get started without having to wait for a tedious hotel check in. No matter where you’re staying in Dublin, you’re always going to be close to the action, so here are the ways that you can tour Dublin and take in its culture, history and of course, its charm.

  1. The light rail system. Dublin has a light rail system called the Luas, and it’s one of the most convenient ways to get around. It’s perfect if you want to see a mix of both local neighborhoods and landmarks, and the Red Line is handy for visiting the Guinness Storehouse in Collins Barracks. If you get on the Green Line, you’ll be connected to Grafton Street, Saint Stephens Green and further South of Dublin. You can buy tickets at every stop and you can also use a Leap card if you’re just wanting to hop across the Luas the whole time you’re there.
  2. Cycle your way around. Did you know that Dublin is a cycling friendly city? You can use the bike sharing scheme called Dublin Bikes, which makes it easy to rent a bike wherever you’re going. You could cycle along the Phoenix Park or Grand Canal. Phoenix Park is one of Europe’s largest urban parks and it’s something to be seen in the green of Dublin if you want to have a coastal view. Take a ride along the Dublin Bay cycle route, you’ll get some stunning scenery.
  3. Go on a bus tour. Dublin has hop on hop off bus tours where you can visit all of the major attractions. This includes Kilmainham Jail, Dublin Zoo and Trinity College. Tickets are valid for 24 or 48 hours, so it gives you flexibility to explore at your own time. The buses are suited for families or anyone who just wants a relaxed way to see the city, especially if it’s raining.
  4. Walk. As long as you have the right pair of shoes, you can experience Dublin on foot. Dublin is not a massive city, which means that walking is pretty practical and you can stroll along the River Liffey for iconic views of the Ha’penny Bridge. Wander through the Temple Bar and take a walk through to Trinity College to see the Book of Kells.
  5. A Splash Tour. If you want something more fun, go on the Viking Splash Tour. You’ll go through the historic streets before you plunge straight into the Grand Canal basin. Your guides will be dressed as Vikings, which can give you a giggle, and you’ll certainly have a memorable time of it.
