Iconic buildings, bridges, landmarks and trees in the city centre have been transformed by ‘Dublin City Council Dublin Winter Lights’. And there’s still plenty of time to enjoy them!
Marvel at prizewinning light projections
This year’s Festival included the International ‘Dublin City Council Dublin Winter Lights’ GPO and National Museum of Ireland, Collins Barracks Competition. Artists from all over the world submitted artworks to feature on these great buildings.
The competition entries showcased exceptional creativity as light, movement and imagination brought the themes of ‘Grow’ and ‘Immerse Yourself’ to life in innovative and exciting ways. The designs move constantly across the buildings, telling their stories.
The two talented winners of the International ‘Dublin City Council Dublin Winter Lights’ GPO and National Museum of Ireland Collins Barracks Competition are Christopher Harrisson and Metanoia Creatives. The winning artists were each awarded a prize of €15,000.

There’s still time to enjoy Infinite by Christopher Harrisson at the GPO. His winning artwork explores the themes of growth and renewal, reflecting the ever-changing balance between nature and human progress. A lush forest is destroyed to house a giant machine, before nature reclaims its space. Combining hand-drawn 2D elements, motion graphics and archive images, the animation is accompanied by an original music score. You can see all the finalists’ artworks too!
A Dublin city centre walk like no other
Stroll along the River Liffey to see four bridges come alive with light. Watch as the lights on the James Joyce, Ha’penny, Millennium and Samuel Beckett bridges are reflected in the water. You can enjoy a dynamic light display along the boardwalk.
