Poachers Drinks has been announced as the overall winner of the inaugural Tonic and Mixer Masters 2021 in The Spirits Business Global Masters Series. The top accolade of the competition, the Taste Master (best of the best) was awarded to Poachers Wild Tonic with Irish Elderflower, a careful blend of hand-picked Irish elderflower, fresh lemon and natural quinine, a light refreshing drink bringing a taste of Irish summer.

Launched in 2008, The Spirits Business Global Masters Series is the world’s most highly regarded series of blind-tasting competitions, and aims to find and recognise excellence in spirits and mixers on the world stage. The Global Spirits Masters is unique in its exclusive use of completely independent expert judges, including journalists, retail buyers, bartenders and educators. The judges agreed the standout product and most deserving of the highest accolade was Poachers Wild Tonic with Irish Elderflower, describing it as “really exceptional.” This year is the first year that Tonic and Mixers have been recognised as a category so Poachers Wild Tonic is the first ever winner of this prize, chosen from over 95 products from around the world.

Made sustainably in Ireland, inspired by a love for our island’s native ingredients, people and culture, each drink in the Poachers collection is made with imagination, finesse, and a little fun. The finely balanced, lower in sugar drinks embrace unique, natural Irish ingredients and are realised in a stylish, Irish and natural way for a customer that is increasingly more adventurous in their approach to taste. Poachers Drinks can be enjoyed as a mixer to delicately enhance and never overwhelm premium spirits, or as a sophisticated no alcohol serve.

As well as the prestigious top prize in the Tonic and Mixer Master category, Poachers Drinks won six more medals: the Master Medal for their Wild Tonic with Irish Elderflower; four Gold Medals, for Poachers Citrus Tonic With Irish Rosemary, Poachers Classic Tonic With Irish Thyme, Poachers Light Tonic With Irish Rosemary and Poachers Ginger Beer With Irish Chilli; and a silver medal for Poachers Ginger Ale With Irish Apple.

Of the announcement, Brendan Colbert, Founder and Managing Director of Poachers Drinks said: “We are delighted Poachers Drinks has been recognised by the prestigious Spirits Business Global Master awards. To have won the inaugural Taste Master award for our Wild Tonic is a fantastic achievement and a testament to our love of Irish ingredients shining through on a global stage.”
