The 26-year-old playwright John Osborne premiered Look Back in Anger in the Royal Court in 1956. It’s arrival on Britain’s post-war theatrical scene punctured the comedy and caper sops with a harsh kitchen sink realism. It explored sex, class, religion, politics and the media. It paved the way for the likes of Ken Loach and Mike Leigh. Annabelle Comyn is at the directorial helm for this new production which will hopefully herald a fresh start for an establishment with reason to look back in anger too.
