More brown-out inducing, speaker-blowing destroyers-of-worlds than a ‘band’ in the traditional sense, Lightning Bolt’s decision to record this, their first album in five years, in a proper studio (gasp!) came as something of a shock to those enamoured with the two-piece since they first kicked our collective heads in. It’s a welcome evolution though as they deliver their most accessible release to date without compromising their singular stomach-churning energy one iota. Test your foundations; this is the closest thing we get to natural disasters.
