Costume Parisiens

Haute stuff, coming through.

Running until the end of March next year, ‘Costumes Parisiens’ in the Chester Beatty Library is an exhibition of brilliantly vibrant and technically intricate fashion illustrations, depicting the opulence, excess and fantasticality of French couture during the heady days and nights between 1912 and 1914. Catch a glimpse at the mode of representation ultimately ousted by contemporary photography and see one of the original confluences of fashion and art.

Demi-luxury label Whistles are upping their high-end high-street ante and are set to bring their clean and confident aesthetic into the realm of menswear in the new year in an aggressive expansion which also included a recent debut on the London Fashion Week schedule. CEO Jane Shepherdson [pictured] says the collection will be available online and in premium department stores come Autumn Winter 2014.
