Positive Negatives: Brewdog

Posted September 19, 2020 in Food & Drink Features

Pre-Covid seems like a distant past but there was a time when new pubs were opening with hopes and dreams of cornering the market.

Outpost Dublin Brewpub was one such enterprise, the first physical footprint of BrewDog, the mega ‘independent’ Scottish enterprise. It marked their 100th bricks and mortar place on the planet.

Progressive in all aspects of their undertakings, such as having 130,000 ‘Equity Punk’ shareholders, they have announced plans to become the world’s first carbon negative international beer business.

They have purchased 2,050 acres of Scottish Highlands to create the BrewDog Forest and plan to plant one million trees over the next few years.

Hopefully, they will consider localising the offset of their footprint in time and lead others down this forest path.
