Alliance Française, aka Dublin’s French Language and Culture Centre, recently launched a convivial new café in their iconic Kildare Street location.
Given the name, it is clear that the petit French sponge cake beloved by French author Marcel Proust is likely to be a menu staple.
It comes specially sourced from Arty Baker, the French bakery owned by Romaine Tessier and Suzanne Hodgkinson, while also in the mix is a lovely selection of gorgeous Chouquettes and Cookies by Claudine Bakery.
While it’s still early days, the innovators behind the new café tell us that Madeleine is very much an evolving project, with plans to grow its offerings based on customer feedback in the months ahead.
They’ve just started doing lunch with some delicious looking Croque-monsieurs and Toastés végétariens guaranteeing a taste of France in Dublin with further experimentation planned over the next few months.
Bonne Chance to all involved!
