Gone But Not Forgotten

Michael Scanlon’s (108 Parnell Street), The Honey Pot (118 Parnell Street), Kelly’s (82 Sir John Rogerson’s Quay), Culhane’s (5 Green Street) – these are the names and addresses of a few pubs no longer with us.

Seán Walsh, who runs the Irish Photo Archive, recently took possession of a box of images of old boozers in the city which were photographed in the ‘80s. He set about scanning them.

“A guy passed away and his friend handed in this box of photos, they’re not great quality but they do capture the city when it was a bit of a rundown shambles.”

They also document places no longer with us which played host to many occasions, memories and hangovers.

All proceeds from the sale of images on the site support the on-going work of the archive.
