Flowing Tide Ebbs

Posted 3 weeks ago in Food & Drink Features

Farewell then to The Flowing Tide, a landmark boozer who could certainly be included in the ‘if these walls could talk’ category.

Across from the Abbey, it has encountered all the luvvies and the not so luvvies in its day. It even took a hit back in 1916 when an artillery shell intended for the GPO struck it.

It went on the market for €2m before the pandemic and casually stated on Twitter in June that, “We’re getting a bit of a facelift, but it’s what’s inside that counts.”

Whether it has taken its final bow as the Tide or returns for a second act remains to be seen.
