Feasting at Babette

Posted April 5, 2022 in Food & Drink Features

We seem to have developed a newfound addiction to delicious Buratta Fig Prosciutto Crostini, a dish made using French Irish burrata, roasted fig, and 24-month aged prosciutto on toasted sourdough.

It’s just one of a host of tasty morsels to be found on a menu packed full of sumptuous, comforting delights at recently opened Babette in Ranelagh.

Located in the spot that was previously home to La Bodega, the modern European Brasserie and cocktail bar takes its inspiration from the 1987 Oscar winning Danish film, Babette’s Feast, a fabulous tale of a feast prepared by a local woman aiming to bring a small community together.

The flexible menu succeeds admirably in catering for a variety of different tastes, featuring healthy options such as Superfood Poke and Bean Burgers alongside comforting Duck Cottage Pie, JJ Young’s Himalayan Salt aged Rib Eye and a mild North Indian spiced curry with tiger prawns and monkfish tail with jasmine and rice.

The accommodating brasserie also invites diners to enjoy an intimate, candlelit food-focused experience on their outdoor terrace, which has been sensibly kitted out with a retractable roof and heaters to protect against the unpredictable vagaries of Dublin’s spring weather.
