Will Three Quick Breaths Be Dublin’s Next Big Hit Movie?

Posted 2 weeks ago in Film Features

Dublin has long held a special place in popular culture, largely thanks to the many movies and music that have been filmed here over the years. A new film called Three Quick Breaths was filmed in and around the city earlier this year, so could it be the next big movie to put Dublin in the worldwide spotlight?

What Do We Know About It So Far?

Not a lot of details have been released so far, but we know that this Brendan Muldowney-directed movie stars Danny Dyer as a football agent named Jimmy Banks, who is trying to get a final giant payday for his client by making sure that he takes part in a game that he can’t afford to miss. The script was written by Peter Howlett, and principal photography took place mainly in Dublin.

No firm release date has been mentioned, with little news on this project since it was announced at the start of 2025. However, with the first images shown to the media in February this year and the post-production work already carried out, it seems possible that we’ll be able to see the movie before the end of the year.  Three Quick Breaths has been described as a fast-paced thriller and a pressure-cooker-type movie.

Dublin and Ireland in Popular Culture

This could be the latest in a long list of iconic movies set in Ireland. From The Quiet Man to Waking Ned and The Banshees of Inisherin, this country has contributed some classics. As for the best movie set in Dublin, some might say The Commitments, while Sing Street and Once head up this list of Dublin films.

Ireland has also reached global attention in other ways, thanks to music videos set in Dublin, such as Old Town by Phil Lynott. U2’s The Sweetest Thing also takes viewers on a trip around some of the city’s best-known streets. Plenty of TV shows have been filmed here, with a current example being Tall Tales & Murder, which is a new light-hearted crime drama.

Classic Irish images are commonly seen in other areas, such as online slots. The games on bingo casino websites like this include titles such as Irish Coins and Emerald Frenzy. Leprechauns, pots of gold, and shamrocks are often used as symbols, with a background of rolling green fields adding to the atmosphere.

Waiting for More Details

We need to wait a bit longer to find out more about this movie and see whether it will join the list of classics filmed in Ireland. While much of the filming took place in Dublin, it’s not yet clear whether the city will play a starring role in the action, or even if we’ll be able to recognise the streets and buildings while we watch Danny Dyer’s character go about his business.

Hopefully, Three Quick Breaths will be another great film set in Dublin for us to enjoy. If not, there are plenty of other ways to soak up the city’s unique atmosphere, by watching films and TV shows.
