It’s not just Jimmy Joyce who owns it, writer Mia Gallagher and artist Mario Sughi have combined their talents to create a bilingual and cross-disciplinary feast of texts and artworks portraying people of Dublin at dream, rest and play.
Extracts from Shift, Gallagher’s 2018 collection are interpreted by Sughi’s works such as TCD Cafeteria and Leisure Time (Martello Tower).
“The juxtapositions between writing and image work by analogies, sometimes obvious, other times barely perceptible, in an intense dialogue that plays on the contrast between the density of the text and the essentiality of the tableaux,” writes project curator Melania Gazzotti.
