There are many good reasons to record a double album. Just because it occurred to you that you should is not one of them. Having said that, I enjoyed this album. It’ll confuddle fans who like them for their happy-clappy hits but they have found a sonically diverse way to keep the momentum of the band chugging into their twelfth album. The Lips have peppered their psychedelic stew with a darker edge with each musical by-road careening into another, twisting and repeating till the listener is left wrapped around a musical stump.
