It’s been two years since Jesse Cohen and Eric Emm dropped the Settings EP and subsequent Volume On collection. Heralded by a song so simply uplifting it could be repeated eternally, the calypso pop of ‘Real Life’ is their defining tune. It’s still the best thing they’ve done, which is why it sits central on their first album proper. Lead single ‘Brothers’ might have been a promising trailer – a weighty tropical dance track with a vaulted infectious spin – but the playful follow-up ‘All Of Me’ is a closer indication: this is a record of watered down indie pop. Mixed Emotions indeed.
