Africa Day 2026 makes a welcome return to the Royal Hospital Kilmainham on Sunday May 17th with a packed programme of music, dance, fashion, food and family-friendly fun celebrating the richness and diversity of African culture in Ireland.

Now in its fourth year in Kilmainham, the flagship national event is expected to draw thousands for a day-long celebration of community, creativity and connection.

The Main Stage line-up features Tony Oscar, Ridler Tempo, Chris Kabs, Asha Ari and the always-uplifting Discovery Gospel Choir, alongside sets from Monte the DJ and the high-energy Presidential Dance Cypher. The crowd-favourite Best Dressed Competition also returns, bringing serious style inspired by cultures across the African continent.

Over at the Rhythm Stage, expect dance battles, live performances and interactive drumming workshops hosted by Africa Day ambassador Lapree Lala and DJ KayOneKay, with appearances from Southside Moves, Afrokids Ireland, Ghana Union, DAPA and more.

The Spoken Word area will spotlight storytelling, poetry and conversation with events including The Irish–Africa Bridge, Voices of the Diaspora open mic sessions and a live podcast recording from Black & Irish.

Elsewhere, festival-goers can explore a bustling Cultural Village packed with crafts, art, workshops and African food experiences, plus dedicated entertainment for kids.

Africa Day Dublin is organised by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in partnership with Dublin City Council as part of a nationwide programme of celebrations across 31 local authorities.
