Rugby season just got a little smoother, thanks to the efforts of the convivial folk at The Mint Bar at The College Green Hotel, where they’re currently serving up a limited-edition Six Nations Whiskey Flight that pairs major matches with even bigger pours.
The rugby inspired curated tasting tour features six whiskies celebrating the countries involved in the Six Nations. Served on a handsome mahogany tray, the flight comes accompanied by an informative little booklet that digs into flavour, heritage and distillery lore, providing some serious insights into what makes each expression uniquely representative of its nation’s whiskey identity.
Highlights include a delicious single malt made using locally grown rye and traditional Scottish pot stills by Puni, Italy’s first-ever whiskey distillery. Blending Alpine purity with Scottish know-how, the process results in gorgeous flavours of gentle spice, orchard fruit and serious craftsmanship.
France too steps up with Brenne, an award-winning single malt made from 100% organic heirloom barley grown in Cognac, feted for its silky texture and notes of butterscotch, almond and soft spice.
Smart, sippable and dangerously civilised, rugby fans can enjoy the flight and watch all the matches on the big screen throughout the duration of the Six Nations tournament, with the Mint Bar opening earlier to accommodate the 2pm kick-offs. Available until March 31st. €35 per person or €60 for two.
