Early birds will already be aware that The Dead, the immersive theatrical jewel based on the famous seasonal short story by James Joyce, is set to return for a third outing in winter 2026–27.

Adapted and directed by Louise Lowe, and presented by ANU and Landmark Productions, the play offers plenty of food for thought, both figuratively and literally.

The intimate, small-audience experience is a rare chance to participate in one of the greatest short stories ever written, in which the characters gather for a sumptuous meal around a beautifully decorated table featuring a fat brown goose, a great ham and a round of spiced beef.

Dubliners are invited to arrive at the Misses Morkan’s annual dance, where they’ll be greeted by a maid, ushered up the grand staircase, and drawn into an evening of music, laughter and gentle melancholy, culminating in one of literature’s most famous epiphanies.

Running from Nov 20th 2026 to Jan 31st 2027, events unfold in the richly atmospheric rooms of UCD Newman House at MoLI.

Tickets are available now, but as the experience of the previous two years attests, blink and you’ll miss them.
