
Chicago-borne Natural Information Society, an avant-garde minimal jazz ensemble, makes its Irish debut on 29th of October at the National Concert Hall. Formed in 2010 and led by composer-multi instrumentalist Joshua Abrams, the group performs with Lisa Alvarado’s free hanging paintings as mobile sets which allows NIS create environments at once meditative & propulsive.
New album Manifestation is a cracker and tonight’s show sees the band as a quartet with Abrams on guimbri, Alvarado on harmonium, Mikel Patrick Avery on drums & Jason Stein on bass clarinet and is promoted by one of the city’s most progressive bookers, Enthusiastic Eunuch.
