For Kilkenny-born, Dublin-based singer-songwriter Sean Coady, music has always been part of the story. A guitarist for over two decades, he only began writing his own songs in recent years—but the late start hasn’t slowed his momentum. In fact, it’s fueled a burst of creativity that has quickly brought him from local open mics to national airplay and international recognition.

Coady’s latest track, Beyond the Sun” featuring Tessy Ehiguese, captures both the energy and optimism that define his style. Originally recorded at JAM Studios in County Meath with producer Martin Quinn, the track was reimagined in February 2025 to include Ehiguese’s soulful RnB-inspired vocals. The collaboration transformed the song into a radiant mix of indie rock and soulful groove—a throwback to the 90s with a fresh, contemporary edge.

The response has been striking. “Beyond the Sun” has enjoyed spins on Today FM, 98FM, Red FM Cork, Dundalk FM, KCLR, and Beat FM, with multiple plays on Claire Beck’s All Irish Show. Its music video has surpassed 126,000 views on YouTube, adding to the momentum. The track also made waves on the international stage, reaching the Finals in the Rock category of the UK International Songwriting Competition while placing as a semi-finalist in three other categories.

Media attention followed, with features in the Sunday Mirror, Irish Daily Mail, Dublin Live, IMRO, and the Kilkenny People. Coady also sat down for a live interview with KCLR to discuss the song’s success and its journey through the competitive world of international songwriting.

Yet despite these milestones, Coady remains firmly rooted in the grassroots Irish music scene. Over the past year he has become a familiar presence at open mics in venues like Whelan’s, Smithfield Creatives’ Board, and Song Cycle, while also performing charity gigs in his hometown of Kilkenny.

Looking ahead, the momentum shows no signs of slowing. Coady is set to return to JAM Studios this October to record new material with Quinn, including his upcoming single “Diggin’ It”, slated for release in January 2026. He’s also aiming for festival stages, with hopes to secure slots at All Together Now, Forest Fest, and Electric Picnic next summer.

With a growing audience, a string of achievements, and a sound that blends heartfelt lyrics with the nostalgic energy of 90s indie rock, Sean Coady is quickly establishing himself as one of Ireland’s most promising new voices.
