Who are Equinox?

The M House

– a play for anyone who has ever been put in a box.

The M House is an adventure story.

It’s a satirical look at the legacy of institutional Ireland.

It’s a scramble to make sense of our one-size-fits-all culture.

It’s a parable of our times about the treatment of our vulnerable.

Devised and created by an eclectic group of theatre artists, some with disabilities and unique sets of needs, and directed by Medb Lambert, The M House is a unique and powerful new play from Ireland’s leading inclusive theatre company.

The M House explores the growing global trend of categorising and labelling people, politically and socially and then trying to fit them into neat little boxes under broad headings – ‘Irish’; ‘Female’; ‘Disabled’ – the list goes on and on…when actually, really those lines are becoming increasingly blurred.

The M House is a play for anyone who has ever been put in a box, but when you open the boxes, squash them, and embrace diversity, you can come to see the world as far more interesting that you could even imagine.

Our Accessible ethos

The M House features built in open captioning and audio description is available. All of our performances are relaxed: this involves throwing the conventional rule book out the window. The audience are gently lit and sound volume is always kept at a reasonable level. If you need to leave the auditorium for whatever reason you will absolutely be allowed back in.  Now the audience become an intrinsic part of the experience.

It’s an acknowledgement that everyone experiences the world in unique ways.

Relaxed performances were originally designed for people on the Autism spectrum, but actually, everyone can benefit from a more relaxed environment.
