“It’s funny how we seem to trip up on our dreams even when we are asleep…”

Kilkenny-based whizz Tanoki, aka Paul Mahon, nods to the past for some commentary on our future in Loading, the first slice from his forthcoming debut File New. This jam, featuring vocals by Farah Elle, is a sashay into spring with distinctive retro influences such as Morcheeba and Kruder & Dorfmeister to be found amongst its shimmering trip-hop style beats. “The song is a commentary on what we’re doing with technology and how it’s intersecting with our lives,” says Mahon.

“Loading” accompanies a music video shot and edited by Tanoki featuring animation, creative cuts and hypnotic visuals. It also stars Stafford and Turlough Kelly dancing through darkened streets of Kilkenny. A round of umbrella-pimped piña coladas for everyone please as the Balearic sun reclines in the sky. Emotional, happiness, upload complete.

We’ll be sharing singles we listened to in February and liked next week. Check out January’s selection here.
