Lisa Hannigan – Passenger

Posted October 10, 2011 in Music Reviews

While Sea Sew was (literally) homespun and charming and garnered a positive reception, it was a bit plain song and arrangement-wise, only really enlivened by the loveliness of Lisa’s pipes. Passenger is definitely more mature, travelled and likeable than its predecessor. However in comparison to her direct peers, for example, the redoubtable Ms. Newsom the fare is too heavily balanced in favour of the nice over the nasty. That said Knots (the highlight) points the way forward.
