Wine industry & hospitality professionals and wine lovers will have the chance to discover wines from around the world, meet producers and explore emerging trends at the inaugural WineCONNECT Dublin.
If wine is your thing, there’s a new event coming to Dublin this October that is worth putting in the diary.
WineCONNECT Dublin will take over Smock Alley Theatre on Tuesday, 27 October, bringing together wineries, importers, retailers, sommeliers, hospitality professionals, media and wine enthusiasts for a full day dedicated to discovery, tasting, learning and networking.
With more than 500 wines from over 200 wineries and 50 exhibitors, the event will offer visitors the opportunity to explore a diverse selection of wines from across the international wine world, while meeting the people behind them. Countries represented include Bulgaria, Chile, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, North Macedonia, Portugal, Spain, Türkiye, the UK and the USA.
For those working in the wine and hospitality industries, WineCONNECT is designed as a meeting point for business and networking, offering the chance to connect directly with producers and importers and discover wines that could find a place in future portfolios.
But you don’t need to work in the trade to get involved. Wine enthusiasts can also attend, taste wines, meet industry experts and learn more about different wine regions and styles.
A day of wine discovery
One of the highlights of WineCONNECT Dublin will be its programme of nine masterclasses, covering a range of regions and wine styles.
The programme will include a session with Wine Ambassador Tim Atkin MW exploring wine market trends, alongside masterclasses focusing on German wines with VDP, Rías Baixas, Turkish wines, Jumilla, New York Wines, Rueda, Port and Corpinnat.
Speakers across the day will include Tim Atkin MW, Almudena Alberca MW, Harriet Tindal MW, Aoife Carrigy, Carles del Amor, David Kermode, Carolina Martínez Origone, Andrew May, Tom McKernan, Sevgi Tüzel-Conghaile and John Wilson.
The event is being organised by Dublin-based A Wine Idea and The Wine Agency, both founded by Sevgi Tüzel-Conghaile, an oenologist and viticulturist whose career has taken her from winemaking in Turkey to studying oenology and viticulture in France and Germany. Sevgi Tüzel-Conghaile has worked in wineries in Bordeaux, Mosel, Thrace and Champagneand has qualifications covering areas including Sherry, Cava, Spanish wine, Champagne, Port, Rioja and California. She was also named among The Irish Times’ “50 People to Watch” in 2023 and was shortlisted for the IWSC Emerging Talent in Wine Communication award in 2024.
What to know
Taking place from 10am to 7pm on Tuesday, 27 October, WineCONNECT Dublin will be held at Smock Alley Theatre on Lower Exchange Street in Temple Bar.
Admission is free for trade and media professionals, while tickets for wine enthusiasts start at €25.
