Where once they teemed with life, we all know of an abandoned house or two which carries mere echoes of its past midst its current decay.
County Down photographer Rebecca Brownlie steps into these spaces, from big houses to humble cottages, schools to prisons, churches to dance halls, and captures their past and present finding ordinary ephemera of past lives – dusty love letters, rusting spectacles, photographs yellowed and curled with age.
Haunting and immersive, it’s a glimpse into a bygone era and possible fodder for yet another RTÉ home series.
