Grammy nominated Fontaines D.C. return to BIMM Institute Dublin as special guests for virtual careers event on January 22nd ahead of CAO application deadline.

Situated in the heart of Dublin’s Liberties, BIMM Institute Dublin has become a hub of artistry and creativity in recent years, providing a springboard into the world of contemporary music through an education experience that explores technique, music culture, craft, technology and business. Now the College has announced two free virtual events offering a deeper insight into potential careers within the music industry.

Taking place this month, both events will be hosted by broadcaster Kate Brennan Harding, and will offer insights into the many different careers which can be pursued within the music industry by attaining the BA (Hons) in Commercial Modern Music degree at BIMM.

Featuring talks from highly experienced lecturers and music industry professionals, graduates such as Fontaines D.C. will be discussing their journey through the college, the vital experience and knowledge they gained there and the doors it has opened for them in their careers to date.

In addition to Fontaines D.C., successful BIMM graduates to date include Murder Capital, Erica Cody, Jafaris and Craig Fitzgerald (The Academic) while many other alumni have become entrepreneurs setting up their own businesses in the creative arts, or undertaking work for concert promoters, record labels and music publishers. Others are currently building on their studies at BIMM, pursuing areas such as Music Therapy, Composition, and Popular Music Research at Masters level.

BIMM Institute Dublin offers a variety of programmes including a BA (Hons) Degree in Commercial Modern Music, a Technological University Dublin validated BA where students can specialize in guitar, bass, drums, vocals and song writing.

The Institute also offers three part-time Foundation Diplomas in Professional Musicianship, Music Business and Music & Audio Production aimed at aspiring performers, producers and music industry professionals.

As with many sectors, BIMM has had to adapt to the challenges and changes brought on by Covid-19. BIMM have led a blended learning approach to teaching, integrating online classes with on campus tutoring, adhering to all government and health authority guidance. This has ensured that all BIMM students can attend practical and essential performative elements on campus still having access to important collaborative experiences and onsite industry standard equipment.

The deadline for application to the BA (Hons) in Commercial Modern Music degree programme is by the 1st of February through the CAO system for September 2021 enrolments.
