Last month saw Blackrock based café and deli ICIAR secure victory at the French Champion Awards where it won the title of ‘Best Delicatessen in Ireland’. Founded just four short years ago by Parisian entrepreneur Julien Comte, the French café and delicatessen succeeded in beating off stiff competition from longer established enterprises such as Donnybrook Fair and Fallon & Byrne.

The popular spot boasts a full range of deli, catering, and take-out offerings, with a choice selection of tempting cheese and charcuterie boxes consistently drawing customers back week after week. The deli stocks an appealing array of Gallic delights, including freshly baked French bread and pastries, delicious sandwiches, and classic Croque Monsieurs. There’s also a lovely variety of tasty French cheeses to choose from, alongside a nice selection of gorgeous French wines and gourmet coffees.

It’s fair to say that the delicious fare on offer bears witness to its founder’s commitment to tantalizing Irish taste buds through French gastronomy. Speaking following the announcement, Julien Comte said he was delighted to receive the prestigious honour, which recognises the outstanding contributions of Irish businesses in promoting and showcasing French produce. Saying that he was grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the promotion of French cuisine in Ireland, he added, “This recognition is a testament to our unwavering commitment to offering an unparalleled selection of authentic French products to our valued customers.”

ICIAR is located at Frascati Shopping Centre, in Blackrock, with a second outlet scheduled to open at Whelan’s Wines, in Loughlinstown later this month. Bon appetit!
