The ending of the eviction ban has once again heightened fears among city renters trying to keep a roof over their heads. In these increasingly trying times, the precarity of the current situation has helped galvanise a number of fundraising efforts to support those organisations providing assistance to people living under the shadow of homelessness.
One such effort sees the culinary brains behind Irish food think-tank Gather & Gather pool resources to create a recipe book entitled, The Gathered Table: A Taste of Home.
Published by Kirsten Jensen’s Nine Bean Rows, this beautifully presented collection features fifty-five recipes from many of the leading lights of Ireland’s food world, including Aisling Moore and Nevan Maguire, with proceeds going to support the work of The Peter McVerry Trust.
Those involved are hoping that the money raised will help the Trust to ‘give more people a home of their own with a table at the heart of it to gather around.’
A great fundraiser from an organisation whose ethos is all about using food to bring people together. Support if you can.
