Despite some less than favourable weather in Carrickmacross this weekend, 350 runners turned out for Ireland’s first ever Gin Run in collaboration with Mo Chara Gin and ALDI to celebrate World Gin Day on Saturday 14 June, 2025. Runners set off from ALDI in Carrickmacross and completed the 5km run at Old Carrick Mill Distillery, the makers of Mo Chara Gin.
The fastest time and winner of the €300 cash prize for fastest male was Tadgh Donnelly in a time of 14:01. Second place and a prize of €150 was James Lynch of Carrick Aces running club in a time of 15:40 and third was Noel Williams of Dunleer AC running club with a time of 16:07 and a prize of €50.
The fastest female was Niamh O’Brien in a time of 18:52 who won a cash prize of €300, Ciara Larney of Carrick Aces running club came second with a time 19:09 and won a cash prize of €150 and Jane Leathem was the third fastest female with a time of 19:13 and won €50.
All finishers also got a goody bag with 50ml bottles of all three flavours of Mo Chara Gin – Strawberry Gin, Passionfruit & Mango Gin and Pineapple Gin and all gins are available in all ALDI stores nationwide.
