Westward bound city slickers are invited to make a small detour off the M7 at the end of this month for what’s being described as ‘the country’s first destination coffee festival’.
Founder Alan Andrews tells us that the caffeinated jamboree is “the ultimate day out for coffee lovers”, featuring “amazing brews, tempting street food, and the best vibes.”
Following the success of last year’s inaugural event organisers have added a BBQ dinner on Friday June 27th to celebrate the 10th Birthday of the popular roastery, along with a Wine Portfolio Tasting.
There’s also a boozy Brew Bar where festival goers can sample traditional Irish coffees and innovative coffee cocktails throughout the weekend, with a chance to get hands-on experience making the perfect espresso martini.
A special Roasting Village is the venue for a series of live roasting sessions and coffee tastings in the company of guests including Daniel Horbat of Sumo Coffee Roasters and Wojczeck Tylser from Blind Monkey.
In addition, baristas from across the country will be flexing their latte art skills in a bid to impress the judges and secure some of the prizes on offer as part of the Oatrageous Latte Art Throwdown.
Well worth making a pit stop for.
Birdhill Coffee Festival takes place at The Old Barracks Coffee Roastery, Birdhill, Co. Tipperary, from Friday June 27th to Sunday June 29th.
