When the past meets the present… This is the story of Sally’s first visit to Ireland in decades, after she and her boyfriend at the time, Martin, left Dublin as teenagers in the 1970s, he to join the RAF as a mechanic and she to work in Woolworths in London. Decades later (and a little reluctantly) Sally is back to confront those who assaulted Martin when he, in his twenties, came back for his mother’s funeral and, as a member of the British Crown forces was assaulted, an injury from which he would never really recover.
Written by Michael J. Hartnett and directed by Vinnie McCabe, the latest play from
Dublin Touring Theatre stars Ann Russell, Brid McCarthy and Owen O’Gorman.
Sally’s Return opens in The Viking on Tuesday March 18th for a three-week run. Tickets and further details here.
