The Grand Social‘s late night Thursday showcase club night for new Irish talent hits pay dirt as the brilliant Telekura join forces with iNNUENDO for a fascinating double header. Telekura was named after a Japanese telephone-based dating service and blends maximalist synths and velvety vocals to create 90s-tinged pop songs with a whiff of psychedelia. The band’s core consists of seasoned musicians: Rachel, a Malaysian-born singer/songwriter and former front-person of Lost Weekend, and Stephen, a songwriter who founded Irish indie quartet We Should Be Dead, with both finding their perfect pop groove within the new outfit.
Drawing inspiration from alt and art-rock icons like Radiohead, Kate Bush, and David Bowie, iNNUENDO weaves in the melodic charm of indie and dance favourites like The Strokes and LCD Soundsystem.
