‘Twofold’, a new solo exhibition by artist Liliane Tomasko at Kerlin Gallery, presents five new large-scale diptychs alongside a new series of works on paper. Tomasko’s signature, bold lyricism and decisive use of colour is emblazoned across twinned panels of aluminium or linen. This diptych format positions tone, form and texture in dialogue back and forth across surfaces, sparking new resonances and shaping our understanding of each panel in relation to its neighbour. These paintings must contend with two distinct voices – sometimes finding harmony, elsewhere tension; forging complex relationships.

Tomasko’s longstanding interest in mythologies is also apparent in this ‘Twofold’, reflecting on narratives of equilibrium and justice, such as the ancient concept of the weighing of the soul.”
