Performed entirely in rhyming verse, this ‘comedy of bad manners’ highlights the absurdities of 9-to-5 life, packed with oversized egos and nonsensical management. An adaptation of Molière’s original work, seventeenth-century France is reimagined into FRANS, a modern Silicon Docks megacorp full of corporate crusaders. Caught in a tangle of HR and office politics, Alceste must navigate the workplace alongside his scorned ex-lover and co-worker Célimène, who’s plotting a way out of the cubicle. Written by Matt Minnicino and brought to life by director-designer duo Marc Atkinson Borrull and Molly O’Cathain, ‘A Misanthrope’ delivers sharp satire, office shenanigans and tech titan takedowns.
