The Whale Theatre, Greystones has just launched an open call for emerging bands, musicians, and solo artists to join its upcoming season of financially supported performances.
Backed by the national Grassroots Venue Fund, this initiative aims to support and spotlight a new generation of artists by providing a subsidised, professional platform to showcase their work.
Selected artists will receive a performance fee, full technical production support, and marketing assistance to promote their show. The initiative is designed to remove the financial risks often associated with hosting live gigs for rising talent, allowing artists to focus entirely on their performance and audience growth.
The heart of live music and performance relies on supporting artists at the very beginning of their journeys. Thanks to the Grassroots Venue Fund, the Whale can offer talented new voices an industry-standard theatre stage and sound system, complete professional backing, and the chance to connect with a supportive audience without any financial barriers.
Applications are open to acts across all musical genres, including rock, indie, folk, electronic, pop, and traditional music. To qualify, artists must perform primarily original material and be actively developing their music careers.
The deadline for submissions is Friday, August 14th, 2026, although artists are encouraged to apply sooner rather than later as the Whale plans its Autumn season. Artists can submit their music links, biographies, and live performance videos through the online application portal on the theatre’s website.
