Irish director Lee Cronin has been announced as a recipient of an Oscar Wilde Award at the March 2026 event in Los Angeles by the US-Ireland Alliance, following the announcements that Domhnall Gleeson and Maura Tierney will also be honoured.

The awards are known for being the casual and unstuffy option in the Oscar week party lineup.

Cronin’s sophomore feature Evil Dead Rise premiered at the SXSW in 2023 and achieved critical and commercial success and earned him the Fangoria Chainsaw for Best Director.

Cronin still lives in Ireland where he runs his freshly birthed production company called Wicked/Good through which he produced his third feature film Lee Cronin’s The Mummy which will reach theatres on April 17th 2026.

It was noted by the President of the US-Ireland Alliance, Trina Vargo that, “Lee’s trajectory is impressive. And to have his name precede the title of the film, that’s a rarity for any director.”
