Bellini’s Norma is a whirlwind of passion, betrayal and romance. Centred around a Druid high priestess torn between her sacred vows and forbidden love, this opera is a masterwork of bel canto brilliance, featuring some of opera’s most emotionally charged music.
The extraordinary Georgian soprano Salome Jicia sings Norma alongside Guatemalan tenor Mario Chang as Pollione, her Roman lover and enemy commander.
Norma is conducted by Maurizio Benini in Dublin and Wexford and Fergus Sheil in Cork, and will be performed in the Gaiety Theatre, National Opera House and the Cork Opera House on various dates throughout May and June.
