CoisCéim returns to the streets of Dublin this weekend with its award-winning BENCH series, a specially curated project that brings dance to everyday spaces.
Established as a pilot project in 2023, BENCH has held its own as a pop-up open-air dance spectacle, amusing and inspiring passersby with contemporary dance performances. The annual event commissions dance artists and choreographers to create site-specific work inspired by the city.
Curated by David Bolger, this year’s BENCH features a special double bill performance at Georges Dock, Dublin 3. The event will showcase new work by Nigeria-born Irish performer Mufutau Yusuf, followed by a performance by dancer Alex Vostokova, with each performance lasting 30 minutes.
With free outdoor performances over three days, BENCH is an invitation to take a breath and savour dance in everyday spaces.
Founded in January 1995, CoisCéim has been at the forefront of pushing the boundaries of contemporary dance as an art form in Ireland, earning numerous accolades for its national and international touring productions.
CoisCéim Dance Theatre’s BENCH Editions #5 and #6 will take place on July 10-12, 2025, at George’s Dock, Dublin 3, from 1pm to 2pm. Free!
