The significance of international recognition is always something which makes the hearts of most creatives beat faster.
When Hozier tops the Billboard charts you may to admit, or shrug, that it’s big news and recognition by the great leveller who are the public.
Critical acclaim can be a different, but equally balming, form of flattery.
And so, we salute Fontaines D.C. for landing Rough Trade Album of Year for Dogrel and Oona Doherty whose dance show Hard to be Soft was No. 1 in the Guardian who said the “chameleonic choreographer” is the most “exciting young voice in contemporary dance.”
This also, selfishly affords us an opportunity to use an image from Steve O’Connor’s Belfast shoot with Oona from May 2018.
