Costume Parisiens

Haute stuff, coming through.

Running until the end of March next year, ‘Costumes Parisiens’ in the Chester Beatty Library is an exhibition of brilliantly vibrant and technically intricate fashion illustrations, depicting the opulence, excess and fantasticality of French couture during the heady days and nights between 1912 and 1914. Catch a glimpse at the mode of representation ultimately ousted by contemporary photography and see one of the original confluences of fashion and art.
