A Hunger for Home – Guzzle

Guzzle is back with issue three and once again it’s going deep. Entitled A Hunger for Home, the latest edition of the beautifully produced food journal explores what ‘home’ really means, through the things we cook, eat and gather around.

Readers can look forward to sinking their teeth into essays, artwork and offbeat takes that stretch the theme in all kinds of unexpected directions, as contributors including Sian Conway, Ali Dunworth, Tra My Nguyen Hoang, Chris O’Leary, Stephen Heffernan and Kevin Sheridan traverse their way across the globe, taking in everything from Irish pubs overseas to a writer’s upbringing in Hanoi and a cookbook club in Copenhagen.

Speaking about the new edition, Guzzle editor Jane Gleeson says, “Home became a recurring thread in our first two issues, as writers shared intimate stories that represented their sense of place and belonging. Given this topic’s worldwide relevance, it felt like the apt moment to explore it in our third issue.

Contributors pushed the theme beyond my expectations, with a satirical recipe inspired by an unstable housing market to an exploration of the bacteria that inhabit our guts.”

To mark the launch, the team is hosting collaborative events in London, Belfast and Dublin, bringing chefs into the mix to translate page to plate. The Dublin issue three launch party sees Guzzle returning home to collaborate with Sam Kindillon and the Note Dublin team.

In a world where place can feel slippery, Guzzle makes the case that food might be the closest thing we have to an anchor. Dive in!
