ÍOVA Photography Collective Presents – The Four Elements

Posted 1 day ago in Arts & Culture Features

The latest group exhibition from the prolific ÍOVA Photography Collective opens this week at Gallery X.

The Four Elements is a group photography exhibition exploring Earth, Air, Fire, and Water as forces that shape both the world around us and our inner lives. The works move beyond traditional landscape or documentary photography, using the elements as metaphors for memory, emotion, movement, and transformation.

Earth appears through texture, surface, and trace. Air is felt through light, absence, and fleeting moments. Fire carries intensity, rupture, and renewal. Water flows between stillness and change, reflection and fragility. Across the exhibition, artists work in both literal and abstract ways, creating images driven by mood, atmosphere, and lived experience.

Bringing together diverse voices and approaches, The Four Elements invites viewers to slow down and sense the unseen, offering photography as a space to reflect on time, resilience, and our relationship to a constantly shifting world.

Co-curated by Ishmael Claxton, artists include Neil Smyth, Genoveva Nemes, Joe Laverty, Drew Leventhal, Michael Croghan, and Gavin Leane.

The exhibition runs at Gallery X, 11 Hume Street, Dublin 2, from Feb 5th -14th. It opens on Thursday Feb 5th between  6pm – 9pm.
