Get ready for a dazzling December in Dublin City Centre! ‘Dublin City Council Dublin Winter Lights’ are back! This year’s festival is bigger and better than ever before. With fantastic new locations, the return of festival favourites and great interactive experiences, see the city in whole in new light.
Throughout December 25 Dublin city-centre locations including iconic Dublin buildings, bridges and landmarks will be epically transformed with incredible light installations and projections designed by world-class national and international artists. This year’s festival features new locations and includes for the first time, Meeting House Square, Dublin Castle and Temple Bar Square.
The iconic GPO building will be transformed with colourful and dynamic light projections created by eight leading national and international artists who are the finalists in the ‘Dublin City Council Dublin Winter Lights’ GPO Competition. The winning artist will be announced in December.
At Georges Dock, 100 beams of light will illuminate the sky as ‘Dublin City Council Dublin Winter Lights’ presents ‘Céad’. The lighting installation brings together the talents and creativity of lighting designer Sonya Fossett and electronic music artist and producer, Caolan Ryan.
In Wolfe Tone Square, passers-by will become part of the light display as an interactive motion sensing wall of LED pixels will capture the movement of the daily life.

In Dublin Castle, experience ‘Flux’. This international touring light installation features kinetic light movement and sound, can be seen from December 1st to 21st. Watch out for the River Liffey Boat. With 180 beams of light, this unique floating lighting installation will travel through the heart of the city from Heuston Station to Dublin Port.
In Temple Bar, immerse yourself in a 3-dimensional lighting installation that feature over 3,000 balls of light in Meeting House Square or play a game of giant light filled ‘X and Os’ in Temple Bar Square.
Millennium Bridge is transformed by the colourful and popular rainbow arches for ‘Dublin City Council Dublin Winter Lights’ 2025 – perfect for Insta moments.
Merrion Square Park brings playfulness, lighting and interactivity to the park with walk-through lighting installations including an immersive Kaleidoscope. Open from December 1st to 21st, this great value event is just €2 for one adult and two children. Entry will start from 5pm each evening, with the last admissions at 9pm. Tickets can be purchased here.

Merrion Square Park also offers Relaxed Viewing timeslot. Every evening the 5pm to 5.30pm timeslot will be designed to welcome people who will benefit from a more relaxed environment, including those who identify as neurodiverse. During this slot, no music will be played and people will have more space to move around. Tickets can be purchased here.
There will be a designated mobile sensory unit away from the lights and sounds in the park for use at all sessions.
