“We must be brief when traitors brave the field.”  – William Shakespeare

The wolfhounds, the castle, Sr Michael and the way she might look at you… The Traitors Ireland is set to make its long awaited debut on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player this coming Sunday, August 31st, and we’re looking forward to tuning in to watch shenanigans on the Irish iteration of the popular global series that has so far been produced in more than thirty countries.

Filming of the first Irish series officially wrapped back in April, and already one question we’d love to see answered is how the juicy details have been kept secret for so long. After all, this is a country famed for its love of ‘the goss’, where pub talk coupled with the recently revived custom of splitting the G generally leads to spilling the T…

If the dogs in the streets have the answers, they’re not telling – yet. The treacherous curs.

So with just a few days to go, what do we know about The Traitors Ireland? Well, it will definitely be hosted by the all-knowing ‘Lady Muck’ Siobhán McSweeney in all her hooded glory, who’ll be overseeing the much anticipated proceedings in the historic surroundings of Slane Castle on the banks of the river Boyne.

Expect much raising of the famous Sr Michael eyebrow so beautifully perfected by McSweeney in Derry Girls, as the series inevitably descends into chaos. Viewers can also look forward to plenty of suspicion and skulduggery, as twenty-four participants embark on Missions while ‘working’ together to add more money to a potential prize pot of €50,000.

Meanwhile, companion series, The Traitors Ireland Uncloaked, sees comedian Kevin McGahern broadcasting from the safety of Limerick, where viewers hungry for even more drama can gorge themselves on bonus unseen footage and an exclusive interview with the banished or murdered player.

That’s autumn’s binge watching boxed off.

The Traitors Ireland will air on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays at 9.35pm.
