On Friday 6th February, BelloBar in Dublin 8 will host a rare live appearance from The Cosmik Debris Band as they celebrate the release of their debut album Tales From The Moon. Starting at 8.45pm, the show marks a significant moment for a band whose journey has been shaped as much by distance and collaboration as by a shared commitment to original music.
General admission tickets are priced at €10 and are available via Eventbrite. For fans of original music and for anyone curious about what can emerge when musicians refuse to let distance get in the way, this is a night well worth catching.
Founded in September 2017 by guitarist Mauro Angeletta and harmonica player Arthur Guillon, The Cosmik Debris Band began life as a loose jamming project. Based in Dublin but international in spirit, the band quickly evolved into something more focused, with a clear emphasis on writing and recording original material. Early on, the duo were joined by drummer Jacopo Sabbatucci and bassist Dmitri Retsja, completing the first full line-up and setting the foundations for what would become a long-term creative project.
That original line-up recorded the band’s first EP, A Walk Downtown, released in 2019. It was a promising start, but practical realities soon intervened. With members relocating to different cities for personal reasons, the rhythm section moved on, leaving Angeletta and Guillon to reassess the future of the band. Rather than stepping back, they adapted.
From that point, The Cosmik Debris Band split their work into two distinct but connected strands. One was an acoustic live project, blending original material with carefully chosen covers, which allowed them to keep performing. As an acoustic duo, they played shows around Dublin, appeared at the Stoneybatter Festival in 2023, and took their music to audiences in France and the UK. The other strand was more ambitious and more challenging: a recording project focused entirely on original music, developed remotely across borders.
That remote approach would come to define the band’s next phase. Joining forces with bassist Simone Invidia and drummer Fabio Chirizzi, who also took on recording and mixing duties, the band began a prolific period of songwriting and production. This collaboration resulted in two EPs, Something Beautiful in 2022 and A Beggar’s Smile in 2023, both recorded with members spread across multiple countries.
Over the past few years, that same process has culminated in Tales From The Moon, the band’s first full-length album. For this record, the band expanded once again, bringing in Cristiano Trevisi to contribute synths, sound design, mixing alongside Chirizzi, and mastering. The result is a body of work shaped by patience, persistence, and a shared vision that transcends geography.
Today, The Cosmik Debris Band exists primarily as a recording project, with members based in Ireland, Scotland, France, and Italy. Live performances are therefore infrequent, making this album release show at BelloBar a particularly special opportunity to experience their music in a live setting. While distance may limit how often they take the stage together, it has not diluted the band’s identity or creative drive.
The Tales From The Moon album release show promises an intimate night of original music, cosmic grooves, and a chance to hear material that has been carefully developed over several years. For those who have followed the band’s journey, and for anyone discovering them for the first time, it offers a glimpse into a project built on collaboration, adaptability, and a deep commitment to songwriting.
