Marketed as her debut, Visions is actually the third full length album from Canadian experimentalist Grimes. Where Geidi Primes and Halafaxa were grimy garage records, Visions is a futuristic synth ride – tied together by a unigue vocal. Claire Boucher possesses a voice that is both sugary sweet and disembodied at the same time, vapours of which are looped, layered and weaved into maximalist arrangements. This is rampageous pop with a glossy sheen and chorals from the heavens – albeit alien skies.
