How does a band who so intentionally limit their sound continue to innovate? Or more pertinently, does it matter all whether they do? All the elements from Teen Dream, the organs, the drum machines, the twangy guitar, the beefier production, Victoria LeGrand’s delightful cooing are all in full effect again on Bloom, however at its core the songwriting herein remains as fluent and entrancing as before, and the lack of diversification in their palette pales into insignificance.
