There are few things better than a band who know exactly how to get a room moving, and South African trio Mi Casa have been doing just that for the best part of 15 years.
The Johannesburg-formed group, made up of J’Something, Dr. Duda and Mo-T, return to Dublin this September for a special one-night show at OPIUM, marking a milestone year for one of Africa’s most celebrated musical exports.
Taking place on 23 September, the Dublin date forms part of Mi Casa’s 2026 European tour, celebrating 15 years since the trio first came together. It’s a significant anniversary for a group whose music has travelled well beyond South Africa, blending house, soul, jazz and Afro-pop into a sound that has found audiences across the globe.
Since forming in 2011, Mi Casa have built a catalogue packed with dancefloor favourites and soulful live numbers, while earning Gold and Platinum certifications and racking up close to 100 million streams worldwide. Their music has consistently carried themes of love, unity and joy, but it’s their ability to bring those ideas to life on stage that has helped establish their reputation as a formidable live act.
Their journey has also seen them collaborate with some of the biggest names in African and international music. Among them are South African legends Hugh Masekela, Black Coffee, Cassper Nyovest and Ladysmith Black Mambazo, while performances alongside international acts including Drake have helped introduce Mi Casa’s distinctive sound to even wider audiences.
For Dublin fans, this anniversary tour offers a chance to experience both sides of that story. Expect the big songs that have soundtracked Mi Casa’s career alongside newer material, with J’Something leading from the front on vocals, Dr. Duda on production and keys, and Mo-T bringing his unmistakable trumpet to the mix.
And while the ingredients might include house beats, jazz influences and Afro-pop rhythms, the appeal of Mi Casa has always been broader than genre. Their live shows are built around connection, celebration and getting people on their feet, making this the kind of September night that should appeal well beyond their existing fanbase.
Mi Casa play OPIUM in Dublin on Wednesday 23 September as part of their 15th anniversary European tour. Doors open at 7pm.
