It’s fitting that BATS would have the final release on the Richter Collective. I’ve long thought that their first album, Red In Tooth And Claw, is the best thing to come out on the label (not something I say lightly, serious competition), and their epic brand of math-rock with its interlocking guitars, gang vocals and adrenaline-rush breakdowns has had a huge impact on the music scene here. Their shows in Dublin have been rare enough over the past year or two that they can all lay claim to being something special.

Now they have a new album, The Sleep Of Reason, in tow and with it a whole bunch of new songs ready to be unleashed upon an unsuspecting world. Science never sounded so good.

Support on the night is from Turning Down Sex and No Spill Blood.

Where: Whelan’s

When: Saturday, 7.30pm

The Damage: €10/€15 with copy of the album on CD.
