With reference to Funkadelic’s 1973 album of the same name, Jordan says,
“The book is largely inspired by my interests in hip-hop, funk music, sci-fi, cinema, and of course comic books. I used these various inspirations to try and create something new, the funkadelic stew that is issue one of Cosmic Slop being the result of that. I plan to continue adding further issues to the series. Everything from story, inking and colour is handled by myself.”
